Our fifth Stem Cell Awareness in the scenic, Gilchrist Park, in the historic city of Punta Gorda, Florida was productive and informative. Our host, Carol Petersen, stem cell advocate and patient coordinator greeted everyone.
Devin Riley, country singer and ONH stem cell patient graced us with two songs she dedicated to the occasion.
Dr. Hakim spoke on umbilical cord stem cells and how they regenerate cells in the body and promote healthy cellular growth. He also discussed several patient cases that had significant improvements.
16 year old Macie Morse shared her personal experience of her stem cell treatment. She spoke of the difficulties a blind person has fitting in a society of sifghted people. She shared the fact that pre-SCT she couldn't see the color of her mothers eyes and post-SCT her vision had improved enough that she was tested for and received her driving permit.
12 year old Jordyn Saxton shared her "Quality of Life" changes with the audience. She talked about what it is like for her to sit back on her sofa and watch TV or to catch a ball thrown to her. Pre-SCT, Jordyn would sit with her face inches from thwe TV screen and only see shadows, she couldn't see a ball to be able to catch it.
7 year old Bailey Locklear told the audience how happy she will be when she has her Stem Cell Treatments in May because she wants to see as well as Macie can now see.
Dr. David Klein shared with us his excitement of the noticeable improvements he has seen in his patient Cameron Petersen's 3 month, 6 month and 9 month medical evaluations. Dr. Klein also studied the medical records of Macie and Jordyn pre-SCT and post-SCT and he spoke of their improvements medically speaking.
Shel Morse told of her gratitude for this treatment that has given her daughter a better Quality of Life.
Carol Petersen introduced her 3 year old grandson, Cameron Petersen, the third child in the world to have SCT for ONH blindness. She also explained her "Stem Cell Awareness Mission". The purpose of this mission is to bring this treatment to the United States so people will no longer be forced to travel to foreign shores to receive this Quality of life regenerative treatment.
